Lyra
The Lyre
Can you see Lyra? This image of the constellation of Lyra was captured by Peter Branson on September 12th 2024 in the early hours of the morning and comprises 5 images of 300 seconds each, stacked in Nebulosity. Lyra is on the edge of the Milky Way as it arcs across the summer sky. The images were taken with an Atik 314 cooled CCD camera through a Canon camera lens at 24 mm focal length. The camera set-up was mounted on a Celestron Star Adventurer Pro. Peter says - "I was trying out different combinations of camera and lenses prior to going to the Brecon Beacons in October and pointed towards Lyra - it's difficult to identify in all the stars!" Hint: Vega is the bright star at the top towards the right, and Albireo is the brightest star in the bottom left-hand corner. Image Credit: Peter Branson.
