John Hill captured this image of Leo 1, a dwarf galaxy of magnitude 11.2 in the constellation of Leo and 12 arc minutes from the bright star Regulus, on the 24th February 2026. The galaxy is visible as a faint oval patch in the two o'clock position from Regulus. The image was taken with a Skywatcher Esprit 100 ED telescope with a field flattener, Optolong L-Pro filter and ZWO 294 Pro camera (at -10°C) mounted on a Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro, all controlled from a ZWO ASIAir Plus. The combined image is comprised of 127 x 60 second subs (2hrs 7mins), with darks, flats and bias frames taken and dithering employed. The images were processed using Pixinsight.   Image Credit: John Hill.
